There are many softwares used by Industrial designers. Just to name a few of the ones i use are Solidworks , Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator , Rhino3d and Alias.
As long as you can get the software to do what you want it to do then its a good program.
You don't need to learn 1000 programs that all do the same things. My
advice is to use the programs that you can understand best, practice
everyday and you'll get good.
